Do you feel lost? Do you feel like there has to be more? Do you feel like something is missing?
Have you wondered, is there a God, a Creator? Do I belong? What is my purpose?
I'm sure most of us have. Most of us have wondered and felt lost, hopeless, and helpless. You are not alone. Literally, not alone in feeling that way and not alone, as in, there is a God and He is available, ready and willing to give you hope and purpose, to take away the lost feeling, to fill up the missing pieces.
Have you looked around and thought there has to be more than a big bang or evolution? That maybe there's more to this world than the theories the scientist have given us? If we look around there is so much beauty and purpose and thoughtfulness in the world around us, the way things work together, the way life is pieced together in such away that the connections can't be more than happenstance.
God created the earth, the universe, and everything in it. He created you and me and He created us to love us and for us to love Him. When we look around we can see the beauty and the connections, but there's something else. Something that isn't the way God made this world to be. We see sickness, death, destruction, hopelessness, sadness, and on and on, this is due to sin. When God created the first man and woman, they disobeyed. God gave them one rule and they didn't listen, they disobeyed, and in that disobedience, sin came into the world. Romans 3:23 says "for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God." Sin separated us from God, but He loves us so much that John 3:16 says, "For God so loved the world, that He gave His one and only Son, that whoever believes in Him, will not perish but have eternal life." God is a just God, that means, if someone does something bad they must have consequences. Someone had to take the punishment for our sin. God sent His Son, His perfect, sinless Son, that didn't deserve to be punished to take the punishment for our sins, ALL of our sins. He died on a cross as punishment. He could have chosen to leave us, to let us die, to be separated from Him forever, but He didn't. He sent His Son, His Son died a horrible death, beaten and nailed on a cross, but He conquered death!! Three days after He died, He rose from the dead. We are no longer separated from God and He loves us. He wants a relationship with us. That sounds so crazy, that God, who made the universe, would want to hear from us, to listen to us, to love us, to comfort us, but He does. 2 Chronicles 7:14 says "if my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land." Matthew 7:7-8 says, "Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock and it will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives, and he who seeks finds, and to him who knocks it will be opened." God is waiting for you. God gives us free will to make our own decision if we will follow Him or not. If we follow Him, we are assured of salvation, we are made new through Jesus Christ and this is just the beginning. God promises if we love Him and follow Him and turn from our sin, that He will give us the fruit of His Spirit, He will give us Love, Joy, Peace, Patience, Kindness, Goodness, Faith, Gentleness and Self-Control. He doesn't promise life won't be a challenge, in fact, it will be. But He does promise to be near us, to love us, to listen to us and to give us Hope for a future beyond this life.
Praying may seem intimidating if you've never done it, but it's just a conversation. A conversation between you and God. Cry out to Him, admit that you are a sinner and you need His forgiveness, Believe Jesus came, died, rose again as punishment for your sins, and Repent, turn away from the sin that holds you down.
