My dear brothers and sisters, understand this: Everyone should be quick to listen, slow to speak, and slow to anger, for human anger does not accomplish God’s righteousness. Therefore, ridding yourselves of all moral filth and the evil that is so prevalent, humbly receive the implanted word, which is able to save your souls.
But be doers of the word and not hearers only, deceiving yourselves. Because if anyone is a hearer of the word and not a doer, he is like someone looking at his own face in a mirror. For he looks at himself, goes away, and immediately forgets what kind of person he was. But the one who looks intently into the perfect law of freedom and perseveres in it, and is not a forgetful hearer but a doer who works—this person will be blessed in what he does.
If anyone thinks he is religious without controlling his tongue, his religion is useless and he deceives himself. Pure and undefiled religion before God the Father is this: to look after orphans and widows in their distress and to keep oneself unstained from the world.

Today the US Supreme Court overturned Roe v. Wade. We all have opinions and in the age of social media they are easily written, recorded, and heard by many.
I know when something we believe in strongly is in the news, we want to share the news and our opinions. There is nothing wrong with sharing, but before we share or before we comment on someone else’s post, are we loving others with the words we say? If we are Christians, are the words we post and the words we say glorifying God, honoring God, and showing love to others?
Beyond words, are we showing love to others with our actions?
For all who are glad this is overturned it is a great day in history, but many haven’t taken the time to understand the people on the other side, the people who are grieving and angry over the decision. The women who have felt the only way was an abortion, the women who feel this takes away their rights, the lgbtq+ that expect the next step is taking away their rights. No matter how we feel about a political and/or social issue, we need to remember there are people on both sides, people God created, people God loves.
So as we chose our words and hopefully share carefully and prayerfully, let us also chose our words with love and chose to show love to those who are grieving and fearful over this decision. I may not understand, but I can still show love. I can express my opinions, but still do so in loving and peaceful ways.
